One in 20 households have not paid their mortgage for three months, according to the latest figures on mortgage arrears from the Central Bank.
There are now 40,472 mortgages in arrears for more than 90 days. Just over 28,000 of these were more than 180 days in arrears. In the three months to the end of September, the courts granted repossession orders for close to 100 properties.
