Household lending market suffers another decline

Household lending declined again last September, according to the Central Bank. Lending for house purchases was 1.6 per cent lower on an annual basis.

The rate of decline accelerated from August, where it was 1.2 per cent. Lending for consumption and other purposes suffered a significant fall, down by 14.8 per cent year-on year in September.

The bank said the net flow of household lending during last September was minus €279 million.
