New data reveals mortgage market is still shrinking

20th August, 2011

The mortgage market is continuing to shrink, according to the latest data from the Irish Banking Federation and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The IBF/PwC mortgage market profile published last week showed that 3,551 new mortgages worth a total of €624 million were issued between the start of April and the end of June.

This represent a drop of almost 55 per cent on the volume of new lending a year earlier.
