Live Register falls but long term unemployment rises

The Live Register recorded a monthly decrease of 2,300 in July 2012, bringing the seasonally adjusted total to 437,300, according to the latest figures from the CSO.

The standardised unemployment rate in July 2012 was 14.8%, unchanged from the latest June 2012 rate. In unadjusted terms there were 460,323 people signing on the Live Register in July 2012, representing an annual decrease of 2.1 per cent, the new data showed.
