Irish technology and engineering companies continue to look abroad to fill vacant positions due to a lack of suitable graduates, according to the managing director of a Limerick engineering company.

“During 2012, we had to look overseas to fill seven out of ten job vacancies due to a shortage of suitably qualified professionals in Ireland,” said John Twomey of Raheen-based Emutex. “The skill level required is just not available here at present.”
