Lexus scraps run-flat tyres plan

Lexus bosses in Japan have scrapped plans to fit all GS models in Europe with run-flat tyres, due to a strong negative reaction from many of the European importers.

Lexus bosses in Japan have scrapped plans to fit all GS models in Europe with run-flat tyres, due to a strong negative reaction from many of the European importers.

Irish importers also resisted the move, and all cars will now go on sale with standard tubeless tyres. BMW remains the only car manufacturer committed to the fitting of run flat tyres without the option of standard rubber.
