Border firms need more help

Your article regarding Superquinn sourcing in the North highlights the fact that the Dundalk/Newry shopping imbalance is more complex than simple Vat and exchange rates. Restrictive distribution agreements, store size, minimum wage and other costs, such as utilities and local authorities, also contribute.

Dundalk UDC did react positively with the elimination of parking charges for the Christmas period, but more needs to be done.
