Incentives a danger

David Clerkin, in his article on Nama (1/11/09), refers to [finance minister Brian] Lenihan’s dilemma ‘‘arising from unwise lending that got banks into their current mess’’.

This suggests that some kind of inanimate gas entered the airspace of banks, causing personnel to act irrationally. The public knows that it was greedy, corrupt bank personnel who caused the current mess by breaking their own lending rules
