Brendan Howlin's article on the recent budget, from The Sunday Business Post of January 6, 2013.

Brendan Howlin says social welfare may sometimes be a "draw on the tax euro paid by low and middle income earners", and that society will need to debate these issues "when we recover fiscal sustainability". (*6/1/13*) But why wait? If there is a serious amount of money being spent unnecessarily, surely it is vital that the situation be fixed now?

I know of at least three mothers claiming one-parent family payment while they have live-in partners...
