Lee stirs it up

The addition of RTE’s economics guru to the Fine Gael ticket has added extra spice to the election contests on June 5, but it remains to be seen if his new party can get the most from his candidacy

The decision of RTE’s economics editor George Lee to resign from the television station and stand for Fine Gael in the Dublin South by election has jump-started the campaigns for the forthcoming local, European and by-election polls, all to be held on ‘Super Friday’, June 5.

The campaigns will dominate politics for the next month; the fallout from the results is likely to continue for a lot longer.
