Leaseback schemes have become hugely popular with Irish investors in the recent past, particularly because of the tax rebates and guaranteed income they offer.

Leaseback schemes have become hugely popular with Irish investors in the recent past, particularly because of the tax rebates and guaranteed income they offer. However, according to one agent, owning an overseas property under a guaranteed rental income scheme offers investors more flexibility than a leaseback property.

While both types of investment yield between 4.5 and 6 per cent, purchasers are not tied to a long lease in a guaranteed rental income scheme.
