Learning to love languages

Taking on a new language is made easier with an increasing range of apps and online lessons.

When Tallaght native Bob Byrne started having difficulty keeping up in his Japanese language night class, he fell back on the skills he had learned as a comic artist to come up with a solution that he has since turned into a business. Byrne found himself struggling with a problem that anyone studying Japanese has to deal with: learning the 46 basic characters known as hiragana and katakana used to represent sounds.
