Train passengers can look forward to lattes and paninis instead of custard creams and soggy sandwiches when Iarnród Eireann outsources its catering service.

The rail company has invited private firms to apply to run its catering service on the Dublin-Belfast train. It is also considering outsourcing the catering service on other routes, including Dublin to Cork, Galway and Limerick.
