An urgent text pings Last Post's way from a member of the confirmed bachelor fraternity: ''Is Alan Shatter going to be the director of elections for the gay marriage referendum?

This is looking rather far ahead, but anxiety is high among the marriage equality dudes that the promised referendum to change the constitution might stand a better chance if the Minister for Justice took, erm, a less prominent role.
