Much tut-tutting last week about the fact that the Dáil bar remains open during late-night sittings. This seems rather puritanical.

If TDs had to go to over to Dawson Street for a drink, they would be in danger of missing votes, so an on-site facility seems only sensible. Moreover, many city centre establishments are highly hazardous environments. Nightclubs are full of people falling over on the dancefloor and injuring themselves.
