There is no good reason to have Dáil by-elections let alone Seanad ones.
As a political anorak/engaged citizen, I’m supposed to love all elections, and I nearly do. Only a week ago I was watching, at 8am on a Saturday morning, coverage of New Zealand’s general election. I actually buy books of old election stats. It’s a sickness, I know, but God help me, elections fascinate me.
