Landmark ruling opens up China to Hollywood

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has given the US entertainment industry a major boost by ruling that China violated commitments by blocking imports of foreign entertainment products.

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has given the US entertainment industry a major boost by ruling that China violated commitments by blocking imports of foreign entertainment products. ‘‘China has acted inconsistently with the provisions of its Accession Protocol to the WTO,” said the expert panel, which last week found that China had unfairly restricted the sale of foreign books, movies and music.
