Lack of clarity leads to insurance complaints

Many consumers have had unhappy experiences with insurance products.

Some episodes have been not only been costly, but traumatic too. The Insurance Ombudsman's annual report reveals an annual increase in life cover complaints of about 14 per cent. Life cover includes areas such as mortgage protection policies, where claims can run into hundreds of thousands of euro.
