Environment Minister Alan Kelly has overturned a council plan which would have effectively banned the building of any new wind farms in Roscommon.

Councillors in the county had ruled that any wind turbines had to be located 1.5 kilometres away from a house. But this would have effectively ruled out the construction of any more wind farms in the county because one-off houses are scattered all around Roscommon.
