Former Eircom chief executive is to become chairman of the judging panel for the annual David Manley award for emerging entrepreneurs, writes David Clerkin.

Alfie Kane doesn’t miss Eircom, the former state-owned telecoms firm where he spent eight years as chief executive.

During his time there, he oversaw the privatisation of the company, its stock market flotation and later a takeover by a private equity consortium.
