One of the main property development companies connected to the K Club in Straffan, Co Kildare, is sitting on retained profits of more than €32.4 million, after an upsurge in house sales at the exclusive golf resort.

Bessilton Holdings, which is controlled by industrialist Michael Smurfit and developer Gerry Gannon, had combined sales of €21 million in the past two years, according to accounts just filed for 2003 and 2004.
