Amid falling sales, newspapers will have been relieved by last week's readership report which showed that one in seven Irish people is reading newspapers online.

Of nearly three million people who read newspapers regularly, 450,000 read them online, the new Joint National Readership Survey found. More than half of those who read online daily also read a printed paper.
