Japanese firm seen poised to buy Lucozade, Ribena

GlaxoSmithkline is reportedly in talks to sell its Lucozade and Ribena drinks brands to Japan’s Suntory Beverage and Food.

GlaxoSmithkline is reportedly in talks to sell its Lucozade and Ribena drinks brands to Japan’s Suntory Beverage and Food.

Bloomberg News, citing unnamed sources, said agreement could be announced as early as September 9th, and the business could fetch more than stg£1 billion.

Introduced in 1927 and 1937 respectively, Lucozade and Ribena have annual sales of just over stg£500 million a year.
