James Murdoch has resigned as executive chairman of News International, the British arm of News Corp, after a move to company headquarters in New York.

James Murdoch has resigned as executive chairman of News International, the British arm of News Corp, after a move to company headquarters in New York.

Murdoch remains News Corp's deputy chief operating officer, a position he was given four months before the ongoing phone hacking scandal erupted at News International.

Investigations are continuing into Murdoch's role in the events.
