The Electrical Engineering Department at the Institute of Technology in Tallaght (ITT) in Dublin has been awarded funding of €218,000 by the Enterprise Ireland (EI) Innovation Partnerships scheme to carry out research into wireless communications for access control equipment in the security industry.

The funding will be used by ITT Dublin to put in place a research team to investigate a possible extended operating range for wireless devices, using the ZigBee radio frequency (RF) protocol.
