Greek issues, as we know, almost scuppered David Norris’s Aras bid before it had begun – and I ain’t talking about the eurozone debacle.

But on Wednesday’s presidential debate on News At One (RTE Radio 1), the irrepressible senator, fresh from staging a scarcely believable comeback, was speaking a different language: one from several hundred miles to the south-east of Athens, to be precise.
