Italian budget deficit narrows to 3.9%

The Italian economy expanded by 0.4 per cent in 2011, marginally faster than expected.

The Italian economy expanded by 0.4 per cent in 2011, marginally faster than expected.

Its budget deficit narrowed to 3.9 per cent of GDP from 4.6 per cent in 2010.

Its 2010 GDP growth was also revised upward to 1.8 per cent from a previous estimate of 1.5 per cent.
