IT Training: Tackling the IT skills shortage

Despite the recession, the IT sector has gone from strength to strength. However, this has created a sizeable shortage of skilled people. Dermot Corrigan reports.

Given the problems within the wider Irish economy, and the large numbers of people unemployed, it may come as a surprise, but the IT sector is experiencing a relatively severe skills shortage.

Employers trying to fill a wide range of IT positions may receive a large number of applications from interested parties, but not all of these have the skills or experience required for the post.
