IT Skills: Industry calls for education action on IT skills

From primary to third level, more can be done to ensure the IT skills gap is temporary, writes JJ Worrall.

Last year UCC, in partnership with EMC, SAS and the Irish Management Institute (IMI), launched both Masters and Diploma courses in data business. It was one of many moves by IT multinationals based in Ireland to collaborate with third-level institutions in the hope of closing the evident IT skills gap here over the rest of this decade.
