IT sector faces rare challenge

In contrast with other sectors, there are too few IT workers to satisfy the industry's demand, writes Gareth Naughton.

While the last government made several announcements on developing a smart economy, that economy was already up and running. IT is now one of the strongest growth areas in Ireland.

While the IT sector took a knock when the major downturn hit in 2009, it has been one of the quickest areas in the Irish economy to recover and not a week goes by without a major jobs announcement.
