Israel and Hamas, which halted eight days of aerial assaults that ravaged the Gaza Strip and made Tel Aviv a missile target, will try to solidify their cease-fire with further Egyptian and US help.

Announcing the truce in Cairo last night alongside Egypt’s foreign minister, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton promised US assistance in seeking to "improve conditions for the people of Gaza and provide security for the people of Israel."
