Islands research energy independence
Ireland’s island communities have moved a step closer to using wind and wave energy to gain energy independence from the mainland, writes Kieron Wood.
A Dublin energy consultancy, Ecar Energy, has been awarded a €121,000 contract by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) to produce a report on using wind and waves to supply power to the Aran Islands and other offshore communities.
