Spain has long been one of Europe's most popular destinations for both holiday makers and property buyers. While it is particularly popular with British expatriates, with almost one million Britons living there for all or part of the year, it attracts investors from around the globe.

Spain emerged from recession in the third quarter of 2013 and its economy expanded 0.3 per cent during that period, which is the fastest rate of growth in almost six years.
