An Irishwoman who went to Britain for an abortion after her unborn child was diagnosed with a genetic abnormality is to challenge Ireland's abortion laws in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on September 6.

An Irishwoman who went to Britain for an abortion after her unborn child was diagnosed with a genetic abnormality is to challenge Ireland's abortion laws in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on September 6.

The news follows an announcement ten days ago that the Irish Family Planning Association is backing a similar challenge by three other women who had abortions in England.
