Irishman bids $1.8bn for New York horse racing

An Irishman last week unveiled his $1.8 billion (€1.3 billion) bid to win the franchise to control New York horse racing.

Karl O’Farrell, who was born in Ireland, formally submitted his bid last Wednesday to manage the operations of the world-famous Saratoga, Belmont Park and Aqueduct racetracks for the next 20 years.
