Irish Water to get financing from €6.5bn state fund

The state's new €6.5 billion strategic investment fund is expected to agree a financing deal with Irish Water, the new national water company.

The state's new €6.5 billion strategic investment fund is expected to agree a financing deal with Irish Water, the new national water company.

The fund is also expected to sign funding deals with a number of other commercial semi-state companies when it is placed on a statutory footing in the coming months.

Details of the proposed investment indicate that the fund is set to invest heavily in semi-states and government projects.
