Irish soldiers on an EU mission to the war-torn African country of Chad are facing water shortages, with concerns that French air carriers are unable to transport water to meet the needs of troops on the ground.

Irish soldiers on an EU mission to the war-torn African country of Chad are facing water shortages, with concerns that French air carriers are unable to transport water to meet the needs of troops on the ground.

While there is no indication of any significant shortage of water supplies at Goz Beïda, where more than 400 of the 430 Irish contingent are based, a shortfall has emerged in the neighbouring region of Iriba.
