Irish stocks drop 2pct on Fed

Irish shares fell in early trading after the US Federal Reserve expressed concern about further significant risks to the US economy.

Irish shares fell in early trading after the US Federal Reserve expressed concern about further significant risks to the US economy.

Financial shares were under pressure in Ireland and across Europe. Irish Life and Permanent suffered the biggest drop in early Irish trading, down more than ten per cent at 18 cent.

At 9 am the ISEQ Index of Irish shares was down 51 points, or more than 2 per cent, at 2,393.43.
