Irish Rail has had more than 100 expressions of interests from company staff for a new overseas secondment programme. The programme was introduced as a cost-cutting exercise.
The semi-state company had sought expressions of interest for career breaks with placements in other railways internationally, with a particular focus on staff working on capital projects.
It has identified potential positions in Canada, Australia, the Far East, Middle East and Europe under the first phase of the programme.
