Irish new car sales slumped by 42 per cent in June, new figures show.

Data released by the Brussels-based European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) showed that new passenger vehicle registrations fell to 6,370 in June from 11,007 in the same month last year.

Registrations in the year to date were down by 13.5 per cent to 66,657 from 77,079 for the same period in 2011.
