Irish mortgage rates remain considerably below the EU average, new figures show.
Interest rates on outstanding loans to households for house purchase fell by just under two basis points in the month of August, according to the latest figures from the Central Bank.
The weighted average mortgage rate was 2.84 per cent, representing a 22 basis point decline since the beginning of the year.
