The value of Irish mink skins has grown by 35 per cent since 2010 meaning that Ireland's five mink farms are worth more than €11 million a year.
That was the message from the European Fur Breeders Association, citing figures provided by the world’s largest fur auction house, Kopenhagen Fur in Denmark.
In 2010, Irish-farmed mink skins were valued at €36 each but they are now worth €56. Irish farms produce 200,000 mink skins a year.
