Irish M&A activity shows small pick-up

The largest completed deal saw Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Corp purchase Dublin-based aircraft leasing business RBS Aviation Capital for around €5.47 billion.

Biggest deal involved RBS Aviation

Irish business saw slightly more merger and acquisition activity in the first half of 2012 than in 2011, according to a survey by Experian.

A total of 147 transactions were announced compared to 142 deals in the first half of 2011.

The value of the transactions rose from €21.862 billion in 2011 to €22.184 billion in the first half of 2012.
