The Minister for Justice Alan Shatter has said that legal education in Ireland reminds him of Hogwarts Academy in the Harry Potter books.

Alan Shatter told solicitors at the Law Society's annual conference in the Castlemartyr Resort Hotel, Cork, yesterday that aspects of legal education and lawyers' "rites of passage" were "disquietingly redolent of the ostensibly fictional academy" in JK Rowling's novels.
