An Irish investment syndicate is behind plans to build a major sand processing plant in Tunisia.

Aiseiri Extractive Processing, which is made up of Irish construction industry figures, is at advanced planning stages for the new plant, which will specialise in processing silica sand for glass-making. Aiseiri has retained CDE Ireland, a Tyrone-based quarry equipment manufacturer, to design the €1.6 million plant and install machinery.
