The chief executive of the Irish Internet Association has criticised the award of a web design contract by Tourism Ireland to a non-Irish web agency.

The contract to develop and design Tourism Ireland's Ireland.com website was awarded to a London-based web developer following a public tender.

"As a country in a job crisis we should be doing everything in our powers to support jobs locally," said Joan Mulvihill, chief executive of the IIA.
