An amnesty is on the cards for illegal greyhounds bred from long-dead dogs in breach of official regulations.

Frozen semen from valuable greyhounds is supposed to be destroyed two years after they die.

But the 2005 regulations have been widely ignored in recent years with greyhounds bred from semen kept longer than two years being granted official registration and allowed to run in races at official stadiums.
