Irish forestry sector exports worth €286m in 2011

Irish forest product exports were worth €286 million last year as the sector expanded its export markets in the face of weak domestic demand.

Irish forest product exports were worth €286 million last year as the sector expanded its export markets in the face of weak domestic demand.

The Irish Forestry and Forest Products Association, which represents the sector, said in its annual review that 77 per cent of forest products manufactured in Ireland were exported last year.

But the association warned that failure to reach Government afforestation targets means that the industry may not have enough indigenous raw material...
