Ireland needs to draw from the Irish diaspora around the world to help beat the downturn and attract investment, according to an Irish-American business leader.

Tom McEnery, a former mayor of San Jose in California and a founder of the Irish Technology Leaders Group, said that a ‘‘strike team’’ of Irish politicians, businesspeople and cultural ambassadors should be set up to help achieve this.
