Irish banks continue to be among the most profitable in the world, according to a report from international credit ratings agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P).

Irish banks continue to be among the most profitable in the world, according to a report from international credit ratings agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P).

Pre-tax operating margins at Irish banks averaged about 45 per cent over the past ten years and are expected to have reached about 50 per cent last year, according to the report.
